BLDEA's Commerce, BHS Arts and TGP Science College

In the undivided Bijapur, the historic town of Jamkhandi did not have any higher educational institution in the 1950s. Jamkhandi had a rich legacy. It was the capital of Jamkhandi state, one of the Maratha princely states and ruled by the Patwardhan dynasty.

To address the educational needs of the people of Jamkhandi, BLDEA started Commerce, BHS Arts and TGP Science College in 1963 and housed it in the beautiful palatial buildings situated on the hillocks of Jamkhandi. Smt. Bhagirathibai Hanumanthagouda Savakar of Bidari and Sri Gurusiddappagouda Patil of Tungal provided the necessary infrastructure. The college was named after these donors to commemorate their contribution.

The college is permanently affiliated to Rani Chennamma University, Belagavi. In the third cycle of NAAC Re-accreditation, the college was awarded A Grade.

The college campus is spread over 54 acres. The college imparts education in Arts, Science, Commerce, Business Administration and Computer Science. The programmes offered are BA, BSc. BCom, BBA, BCA, MA History and Archaeology, MA Political Science, MCom, MSc Mathematics and a certificate course in Yoga, which was started in 2017-18,

The teaching staff is well-experienced and qualified. In terms of infrastructure, the college is among the best in the North Karnataka region. There are 25 laboratories, and 40 classrooms, of which ten classrooms have information and communication technology facilities.
