The dept has 2 laboratories
and 2 demonstration rooms for undergraduates and a separate
research-cum-post graduate laboratory. These are equipped
with state of the art kymograph, physiographs,
psycho-pharmacological equipment, spectrometer etc.
The “Pharmacological Museum” gives a vivid display of
concepts of essential drugs, Therapy Rationale, detailed
information about each and every drug, formulations
available, brands in the market etc. It also provides the
student with historical aspects of medicines, evolution of
Pharmacology, lives of scientists who contributed to the
science of Pharmacology etc.

The Department is quite active in Research Work,
Presentation of Papers, conducting Seminars, Workshops and
Conferences. The National Conference of The Association of
Physiologists and Pharmacologists of India was successfully
hosted by the Department in Dec.2000. The Bijapur APPI
branch has won the ‘Best Branch Award” twice, once in 1995
and again in 1997.
The Department maintains an “Animal House” of its own,
maintained strictly as per the recommendations of UFAW hand
Book of Animal Care and CPCSEA. Thus the Animal House has a
Breeding and Temperature-Humidity Control Facility, an
Operation Theatre, a Post-Mortem Room and a Quarantine Room.
The services of a qualified Veterinary Surgeon are made use
of regularly. The Animal House is registered with the
Government of India under CPSCEA.
The unique feature of the Department is “The Central Drug
Information Centre” which has a sort of ready-reckoner
provides detailed information about any drug like its
action, dosage schedule, toxicity, availability etc. This
information is available not only to medical teachers in the
college but to private practitioners as well.
