The Department was started in the year 1987 modestly in the Municipal Hospital with a lone staff. In not less than a month it was shifted to the present hospital premises. Gradually it has grown into a full fledged department offering routine and advanced ENT and Head and Neck Services to the people of the area and comprehensive UG and PG training to the students with the state of the art infrastructure. Now the department is a part the constituent college of BLDE University.
