INDIRA GANDHI NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY (IGNOU)

n   Open Universities have come up in a big way over the years in providing education to those who are unable

       to attend regular courses because of economic reasons, distance, vocations etc.

n   Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) established by an Act of Parliament in 1985 is offering 125 

      programmes and approximately 1000 courses. Recently IGNOU has established School of Agriculture, and

      School of Law. Some recently introduced, innovative programs include B.Tech, PG. Diploma in Community

      Cardiology, and Diploma in Women’s Empowerment etc.

n   The very fact that Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Karnataka State Open University

      (KSOU) have selected J.S.S. College of Education speaks volumes about the credibility of the Institution and

      its infrastructure.

n   In BLDEA’s J.S.S. College of Education, Bijapur IGNOU Study Centre -1307 was established in the year

      1990. The study centre is running more than twenty programmes like MCA, BCA, CIC, MA (Political Science),

      MA (Sociology), M.A (History), M.Com, PGDHE, PGDRD, DTS, DCH, BJS, BA, B.com, and a number of

     Certificate courses like CFN, CIG, CTPM, etc.

n   The Study Centre has a rich library, CD’s, Audio and Video Cassettes, prepared by IGNOU New Delhi on a

      variety of programs. The programs of the Study Centre are based on self-learning materials with multimedia

      and face to face counseling & support in Practical Training.

KARNATAKA STATE OPEN UNIVERSITY CENTRE (KSOU)

n   KSOU Mysore has selected our College as a Study Centre for M.Ed vocational course from the academic

      year 2000-2001, with an intake of 25 Students.

n  These students will continue for the 2^nd year and as such every year 50 students attend Contact Program

     of 15 days.

n  The Counseling Classes will be conducted on Sundays.

n  Two of our students, one secured 4^th Rank for the academic year 2001-2002 and the other got 6^th rank for

     2003-04.
